Lauvstuas Zamantha Fox
"Zamantha"

11 years old

Zamantha is Kazita's daughter from her second litter. Zamantha were 4 years old in October 2003, and her carreer has just started.

As a puppy, Zamantha was a little cautious, so she has been very well socialized from the start. She's had a wonderful carrier in the show ring so far, it started as a puppy by becoming BIS 2nd and winning a Group 2nd on just one weekend. At the Norwegian Specialty 2000 she became BIS-puppy. That year she also won a BIS-Junior. She got 5 Res .CCs in a row, and we were starting to get a little frustrated. But then in May she got her first CC, and she even placed as 2nd best bitch and received a Res. Cacib. She also became BOB-Youth at the Swedish Specialty that year. She got her 2nd CC only two weeks later, and her last one came in November that year. She even won BOB that day, and became champion. Zamantha is a real show-off, just like her mother.

We've also trained Zamantha in tracking and fieldwork. Autumn 2000 she tried tracking for the first time. Zamantha proved to be a natural born tracker, she was very thorough from the beginning, had a comfortable speed and she was easy to read as well.

In 2001 we trained both fieldwork and tracking, and autumn 2001 she was ready for her first trial. She managed excellent, and got both a 1. Price AND the price of honour. Our next trial came the following spring - Zamantha got another 1. Price. Four days later, we attended another trial; Zamantha got her third 1st Price and got the title Norwegian Tracking Champion. Autumn 2002 we attended a Swedish Trial, and Zamantha did an excellent job - another 1st, and a new championship - Swedish Tracking Champion.

Field training is a different story. The first seasons we had lots of different types of game, and Zamantha was very spontaneous on her retrieves. Lately we haven't had that much game, so we've mostly been using dummies for training, and she enjoys it a lot. We're hoping to compete in fieldwork with Zamantha, but with five dogs to train, there just hasn't been enough time lately. But maybe next season…?

We weren't able to attend any field trials this summer either, but we attended a Working Test in Denmark. She didn't exactly do her best, but it was interesting to see how far she's come and what we need to focus on in our training.

As for tracking, we attended several tests the spring of 2002, hoping to qualify Zamantha for the Norwegian Masters. And we did qualify - 40 dogs were allowed to attend, and Zamantha was number 39… A lot of rain the night before the trial made the conditions very difficult, but we managed a 1st prize.

After that tracking trial, we focused on the field training for a while. In fact, we were so optimistic that we planned to attend the field trial on the Swedish Tollerspecialty. But at that time she had never seen a duck, and though she retrieves anything from water, we doubted that she would qualify on the search, so we didn't attend after all.

Around Christmas time 2002, other things were to happen for Zamantha. She was bred to a Danish male, Shaggy-Toller's Zilver Zimba, and her first litter was born in February 2003. 8 puppies were born, 2 males and 6 bitches, and the whelping went very smooth with no problems. The whole litter looked very promising, and so far they've proved to be as good as we hoped they would be - so far 4 of the bitches has become BIS Puppy, and there's more to come…

Zamantha has had a relaxing summer and autumn this year, and she only attended two tracking trials. Both times she got a 2nd prize, so she hasn't fully regained her tracking abilities after having her first litter. But we continued training this autumn, and she will attend more tests next spring. She's already qualified for the Norwegian Masters in tracking 2004, but we're planning her second litter in May/ June 2004, so we'll probably not be able to attend this year.

Zamantha hadn't been shown since June 2002, when she became 2nd best bitch at the Norwegian Tollerspecialty, so we decided to attend some conformation shows with her the autumn of 2003. She had grown a very good coat, and she looked even better than before having the litter. And the judges seemed to think so as well, because she made her comeback in the ring becoming BOB out of 58 tollers on a show in Denmark 11.10.03. She also became Danish Champion that day. The 26th of October we attended a show in Sweden, and Zamantha won another BOB, and she even became Swedish AND Nordic Champion!! On the 2nd of November we went to Denmark again, attending an international show in Herning. And our Zamantha did it again - she became BOB and even won the CACIB. As a treat her halfbrother, our Mascot, even became BOS…Zamantha had won three BOBs in a row when we attended this year's last show, the Norwegian Winnershow on Hamar. But the judge obviously didn't like Zamantha, and for the first time in years she didn't even get a Res.CC. It was beyond us, but we were probably not the only ones that were surprised.
2008:
Some years later...
In april 2007 Zamantha got her last puppy, Exclusive Star Fox and is now free to go to shows and tracking competitions. In january 2008 she entered Swedish Winner show in Gothenbourg and became BOB and SV-08. She also became 2nd in the group final, what was unbelivable.
Now in July we went to Stockholm to the World Winner show where Zamantha became best bitch and WW-08.
Next weekend we will go to the Tollarspeciality in Sweden, the weekend after to Finland.
Juli 2009:

Zamantha is now close to 10 years, but nobody believes it. She is still in very good shape, is active and playful, but she also need more rest. In March she was shown at Cruft for the first time. She was picked out among the 7 best in her class, but was not placed.
In august we will bring her to the swedish speciality and maybee to Lillestrøm and NV-09. Next year we hope she can enter the veteranclass at WW-10 in Herning, Denmark.
Summer 2010:
And Zamatha was shown in the WW-10, veteranclass and won. She also became best bitch and BOS at an age of almost 11 years, Wow, unbelievable.
In Sweden in July she also did very well and became BIS in competition with about 300 other tollers, her son Star became BOS.
We could not believe it, her mother, Kazita did the same in 1996 and Mascot became BOS in 2005, but this was so crazy, both mother and son.
October 2010:
15th of october Zamantha became 11 years, still in good shape, the 9th of october we got a litter here at Lauvstua, it's Zamanthas grandchildren and hopefully one of the pups will be staying here.
