June the 5th 2006 - Working Test, Haslemoen

After two days with shows it was time for participating on the Working Test, arranged by the Norwegian Retrieverclub. 80 dogs entered the test, mostly flatcoated retrievers, but also some labradors and chesapeaks. And for the first time also three tollers, Lauvstuas Bluestar Shanty and Anne-Lise, Lauvstuas Snowdrop Zairah and Kjerstin and Just Persefone av Heliomar "Mi" and Tone.
Shanty and Zairah started at post 3, in the second group, so there was enough waitingtime to get nervous, or what Kjerstin??
Mi started on post 1, also she in group 2.
Shanty was first, he did a bad marking and had to search before he found the dummy, quite happy he jumped towards the dummy, came back and delivered without any problems. He got 15 points.
Zairah had the same problem, also she had to search a little, she also got 15 points.
On post 4 there was a marking in heather, all went well and Shanty got 19 points.
Also Zairah started great, she run out and picked up the dummy, then right back, but 1 meter before delivering we heard a crack and then it was: Thank you for coming.....
The next post was waterretrieving, something Shanty really loves, and often does his own way......
The dummy was thrown from the other side of the lake and it was quite a distance. It was also windy and they had to have focus on the dummy all the time. Shanty went out in normal (crazy) speed, picked up the dummy and that was it. He got 18 points.
But on the next post he got problems. He was not concentrated enough and lost the marking, he never came as far out as he should and did'nt find the dummy. Zero points.
The last post was also a waterretrieveing, there they had to cross a bog, then jump into the water and come the same way back without shaking. Shanty was a little confused when he came to the water edge, but jumped into it, returned without any shaking and delivered in hand. 18 points on that post.
So after all we were quite satisfied with the first start on a working test.

Mi had also been working, she started on post 1 were Shanty did'nt find the dummy, Mi got the same problems and got zero.
The next post was the waterretrieving were they had to cross the bog. She did quite well and got 8 points. She had to be pushed rather hard on the way back crossing the bog and that was'nt forgot on her next post.there she went out, picked up the dummy and did a crack, that was it.
